About Merry Maidens
The Merry Maidens is one of the finest stone circles in Cornwall: 19 granite stones arranged in an almost perfect ring, thought to date from the Bronze Age.
Legend says the stones are girls turned to stone for dancing on a Sunday, and two tall standing stones nearby, the Pipers, are the musicians who played for them.
