About
About Gwithian Towans
The “towans” are the sand dunes that line St Ives Bay between Hayle and Godrevy. At Gwithian the beach is huge at low tide, with plenty of space even in summer, and it is one of the best places in west Cornwall to learn to surf.
Paths lead through the dunes, which are rich in wild flowers, and you can walk the sands for miles towards Hayle or up to Godrevy Lighthouse.
