About
About Porthcurno Beach
Porthcurno’s sand is made from tiny fragments of shell, which gives the water its brilliant blue-green colour. Granite cliffs shelter the beach on both sides, with the Minack Theatre perched on the western headland.
In the 19th century, undersea telegraph cables came ashore here, linking Britain with the world, a story told at the PK Porthcurno museum just behind the beach.

The beach is lifeguarded in summer, but the sea shelves steeply and currents can be strong, so swim with care. The village car park fills quickly in high season.
