About
About Porthmeor Beach
Porthmeor faces north-west into the Atlantic, so it catches more swell than the town’s other beaches, making it the place to learn to surf in St Ives. Tate St Ives sits right above the beach, and the old fishermen’s cottages of Downalong are just behind.
There is a popular beach café, surf hire and changing facilities, and the Island headland, with its little chapel, is a short walk away.
