  • Wander the harbour. Watch the boats, sit on the harbour wall and look out to St Clement’s Isle. In winter, huge timber baulks are lowered across the harbour mouth to keep out the storms.
  • See the Christmas lights. From mid-December to early January the harbour is lit with boats, sea creatures and a Christmas tree. See our Christmas in Cornwall 2026 guide for dates.
  • Explore the galleries and shops. Mousehole has long attracted artists, and the lanes behind the harbour hide small galleries, craft shops and cafés.
  • Learn the village history. Mousehole was burned in a Spanish raid in 1595, and Dolly Pentreath, often called the last native speaker of the Cornish language, lived here in the 18th century.
  • Visit the Penlee lifeboat memorial. The old lifeboat station at Penlee Point, just outside the village, remembers the eight crew of the Solomon Browne, lost in December 1981.
  • Read The Mousehole Cat. Antonia Barber’s much-loved children’s book tells the story of Tom Bawcock and his cat Mowzer, and makes a lovely souvenir.
